Kristen Wiig Stars as a Lonely Bridesmaid

Annie (Kristen Wiig) finds herself at a crossroads. Now in her 30s, she reluctantly closes her bakery, sleeps with an emotionally unavailable man, and fears she’s losing her best friend (Maya Rudolph) when Lillian announces her wedding engagement. Although she takes on the maid of honor role, even this small perk is threatened when another pushy bridesmaid (Rose Byrne) tries to win’s Lillian’s favor. Oddball bridesmaid Megan (Melissa McCarthy) also adds to the fun in this production by Judd Apatow (among a half dozen other talented folks).

Whether picking out bridesmaid’s dresses, planning lunches, or making toasts, these two rivals take one-upmanship to the next level. Each with nothing to lose – except their dignity – they compete for the bride’s attention and affection with humorous results in this raunchy, gross-out comedy. Although most of the comic play revolves around bridal matters, Annie’s flirtation with a hungry cop (Chris O’Dowd) and dead-end relationship with womanizer Ted (Jon Hamm) provide more opportunities for laughs.
