The three-day MegaCon, a celebration of science fiction, fantasy, horror, anime, graphic art, and more, returns to the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. The event includes dozens of programs focusing on film and television.
MegaCon 2010 Presentations and Panel Discussions
In addition to anime, comic books, paranormal phenomena, medieval song and dance, and video gaming, MegaCon focuses particular attention to the film and television industry. These events include:
- Arne Starr’s Trailer Park: Trailers and gossip about what’s new in Hollywood including the latest information about Iron Man 2, Clash of the Titans, Kick-Ass, Robin Hood, Prince of Persia, Jonah Hex, and Eclipse.
- Celebrating Star Wars: Lucafilm’s Steve Sansweet examines the past, present, and future of Star Wars, including the weekly animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars and the upcoming Star Wars Celebration V.
- Everything Star Wars: Moderated by Steve Sansweet, this Q & A session includes Jeremy Bulloch, Maria de Aragon, Dave Barclay, and Peter Mahew.
- The Doctrine Film Experience: This interactive look behind the scenes of independent filmmaking is hosted by Doctrine Productions.
- Movie Cars Display: Fully restored 1970 Cadillac Miller Meteor Ghostbusters Car, The Real Mach 5 Speed Racer, and Flintstones Mobile “The Bedrock Tumbler.”
Media Guests at MegaCon 2010
The following special guests are among the many actors, writers, filmmakers, and artists in attendance signing autographs and participating in various events. Guests from Star Trek include Nichelle Nichols, Brent Spiner, Robert Picardo, John De Lancie. Guests from Dr. Who include Russell Tovey. Guests from Back to the Future include Lea Thompson and Claudia Wells.
The Sixth Annual MegaCon Indie Film Expo
Short independent films from the science fiction, fantasy, horror, comedy, anime, animation, and superhero genres are showcased in this 90-minute event hosted by 3 Boys Productions, the founders of the Melbourne Independent Filmmakers Festival in Melbourne, Florida. A panel discussion on filmmaking will be hosted by “Students of the Unusual” publisher Terry Cronin, with scheduled panelists to include Katharine Leis, Gary Dejidas, Todd Thompson, Bill Williams, Pat Martin, Brian Pulido, and Steven Shea.
