Unique bonus features and an unrated version highlight the DVD release of the Jonah Hill-Russell Brand comedy.

Take your pick: the crude comedy Get Him To The Greek, written and directed by Nicholas Stoller (Forgetting Sarah Marshall) and produced by Judd Apatow (Knocked Up) comes in unrated and original theatrical versions on DVD and Blu-ray.

Get Him To The Greek Synopsis

Record company rookie Aaron Green (Jonah Hill) hopes to impress his boss (Sean Combs) by rounding up outrageous British rock star Aldous Snow (Russell Brand in a spinoff of his role in the 2008 comedy Forgetting Sarah Marshall) for a comeback concert at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles, California, to revive his waning career. In only 72 hours, the shy, conservative Aaron gets a crash course in drugs, sex, and rock and roll from the over-the-top singer.

These two opposites and their girlfriends (Rose Byrne and Elisabeth Moss) find their personal and professional lives intersecting in unexpected, embarrassing, and uncomfortable ways. Cameo appearances by Pink, Christina Aguilera, Lars Ulrich, Meredith Viera, Billy Bush, Mario Lopez, Kurt F. Loder, and Paul Krugman reflect the fast life in which Aldus and his on-again, off-again girlfriend circulate.

The Humor in Get Him to the Greek

Much of the comedy comes from Aaron’s initiation into the wild world of Aldous Snow. As a fish out of water, Aaron becomes a hilarious giant flounder trying to swim his way through a sea of illegal drugs, free-flowing alcohol, and loose women. Hill’s portrayal isn’t merely humorous, however. He generates considerable sympathy as a guy who just wants to get it right at work (with his irate boss and with the impossible rock star) and at home (with his doctor-in-training girlfriend).

Brand and Combs also succeed with their versions of over-the-top characters who ignore rules, laws, and boundaries to get what they want in life. The push-pull tension between these three main characters adds to the fun in this outrageous flick.
